Visa
No visa required
You don't need a visa for a tourist visit, as long as you stay within the limit and meet the conditions below.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel under freedom-of-movement rules with a valid national identity card or passport. The ordinary third-country tourist limit of 90 days in 180 days does not apply in the same way. Longer residence may require registration and compliance with residence conditions.
- Government fees
- No visa fee.

ETIAS / EES
ETIAS is not operational and is not accepting applications. EES records eligible travellers at the border; it is not an advance arrival form.

Onward travel
Recommended
No universal prebooked return-ticket obligation: France-Visas explicitly accepts either a return ticket or financial means to buy one for the intended departure. A ticket is still recommended preparation. Transit requires onward documents for the final destination.
Travel insurance
Required under these conditions
France-Visas expressly requires ordinary third-country visitors, whether visa-required or visa-exempt, to carry a certificate covering medical/hospital costs, medical repatriation and death-related expenses for the stay. Its listed supporting-document exemptions and EU free-movement rights remain separate.
Other information
These conditions are for a regular tourist visit. Where you live, your visa status and the route you take can change what applies to you.
- Short stays share a limit of 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across the Schengen area. Your visa or permission can allow less; this is not 90 days in each country.
- For ordinary third-country visitors, the passport generally must have been issued within 10 years and remain valid at least 3 months after planned Schengen departure.
- Border officials may request accommodation, funds and evidence of the purpose of your visit. Residence permits and qualifying EU/EEA family relationships can change the rules.
