Arrival forms & authorizations

Travel authorization required

Hong Kong no longer requires a general arrival or departure card. These cards were abolished on 16 October 2024.

Separate Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) still applies: Indian nationals visiting visa-free generally need it unless exempt, while eligible Taiwan residents have a separate PAR or entry-permit arrangement. Use the relevant Immigration Department service below.

Visa and customs requirements remain separate; the arrival-card exemption does not remove them.

Eligible Taiwan residents can use free pre-arrival registration (PAR) if born in Taiwan, or born elsewhere but previously admitted as a Taiwan resident. They must not hold a travel document issued by another authority, apart from a Tai Bao Zheng or an Immigration Department permit. PAR is valid for two months and two entries, with up to 30 days per visit. Carry a Taiwan re-entry document valid for six months and the printed registration notification. Ineligible applicants and Taiwan residents living overseas need the appropriate entry permit. A qualifying Tai Bao Zheng provides a separate 30-day route.

Required under these conditions

Immigration requires onward/return tickets for visitors, except those in transit to Mainland China or Macao. Adequate funds are a separate condition.

Travel insurance

Recommended

Travel insurance is recommended. A general compulsory insurance requirement for ordinary tourists has not been confirmed. Check any conditions specific to your visa or travel circumstances.

Other information

These conditions are for a regular tourist visit. Where you live, your visa status and the route you take can change what applies to you.

  • Carry adequate funds and return or onward-travel evidence, subject to the stated transit exceptions for Mainland China and Macau.
  • Passport subtype and residence can change which visa, entry permit or pre-arrival-registration route applies.
  • Stay limits vary by nationality and admission remains discretionary. Ordinary visa or permit processing is normally four weeks; additional checks can take longer.
